I hope you enjoyed ourMommy Con recap
in lieu of a "Birth News" installment last week. Here are the articles I have collected that I thought would be of interest to those of you TTC, currently pregnant, or getting close to welcoming your babies.
This week was also Remembrance Day for families that have experienced the grief of loss. I open this post with an event to honor their brief passage through our lives.

Sweet Pea Births is so excited to announce that we are sponsoring The Nursing Lounge at the upcoming Healthy Happy Baby Expo! Organizer Kim Swayman, owner of Healthy Baby, Happy Earth in Glendale, sat down with us for a minute. She tells us more about this exciting, one-day event coming up on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 10 am to 5 pm at the Westgate Renaissance Hotel.
What is the Healthy Happy
It is a one-day
event that brings together area professionals to assist soon-to-be or new
parents in discovering resources and information on a variety of topics in
caring for their families.
When it comes to pregnancy, labor and birth, the vast majority of the writing
and expectation for preparation is geared at the mother. One of the reason’s we chose The Bradley
Method® is because it recognizes that the father may also want to play a role
in the birth of the child and Bradley™ prepares the couple for labor to welcome
their child, not just the mother.
The same holds true when planning a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). If the partner was present for the first
birth, they also experienced varying degrees of stress: watching their loved
one undergo major surgery, the physical recovery period, and the emotional
recovery period, which might have been longer than the physical recovery.
Bruss and I would like to welcome Cassandra to the Sweet Pea Births Family. She will be a regular contributor to the blog and you will start seeing her around the internet on ourother social mediaplatforms. I am looking forward to sharing her areas of expertise with our students and readers. Bienvenidos, Cassandra! ~KRB
Hi, I am Cassandra Okamoto and I am a new contributing
writer here at Sweet Pea Births! I thought I would tell you all a little bit
about myself & then share my birth story, which just happened to take place
almost exactly one year ago.
I had the pleasure of meeting Katie Hess at anetworking
last year. Thanks to that meeting,
I used her flower essences to release some fears and to
find calm as we approached our birth. We
also used them at the blessingway and each guest got to enter our “sacred
space” by getting a mist of the flower essence of their choice.
I also feel like Angelika “resonates” with the benefits of the flower essences. I used them every day for the last two weeks of pregnancy, and then in the time afterwards I have used them pretty consistently.
