We talked about the importance of a healthy, whole food diet in our classes on Friday and Saturday. One thing that strikes a chord every time is that a simple, nutritious, well-balanced diet can literally affect your pregnancy, your child, and your future generations.
Are we surprised that there are so many families struggling with infertility when women were told to limit their weight gain and potentially starve themselves and their babies of important building blocks? How about the increase in more processed foods as people moved away from the farms and into the cities? What leached into the canned food and milk that our mothers and grandmothers bought before we knew better? Aluminum, lead, BPA...what else?
There is no magic pill. There is nothing to sell you. The only thing we seek to do is to raise our student's awareness that good food can make all the difference in the world.
I will write more about nutrition tomorrow when I address a couple of the questions that came up in class. In the meantime, I leave you with this thought/image.
